However, Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs proved to be a tough matchup, currently sitting second in the Western Conference.

Charlotte struggled to keep pace with their opponents in the first half, trailing by 13 at the break.

Despite a brief third quarter comeback, the Spurs opened up their advantage once more in the fourth, winning by a score of 115-102.

Brandon Miller struggled, finishing with six points on 2-for-14 shooting. Mile Bridges led the team with 22 points, while rookie Kon Knueppel wasn't far behind with 20.

Coby White was a spark plug off the bench, finishing with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and two blocks.

Following the game, White spoke about his excitement for Charlotte's upcoming homestand.

"Super excited to get back home and play in front of our fans. Sometimes you don't get these types of things in the schedule in terms of being at home so long. We got to take full advantage of it and come out ready to compete."

With Saturday's loss, the Hornets have now fell in three of their last five.

Given the recent success of the Heat, Magic and Hawks, it's becoming increasingly more likely that the Hornets will not be able to get out of Play-In Tournament territory (7-10 seeds).

With 14 games remaining, they trail the Toronto Raptors by four games for sixth place.
