Matthieu Blazy dressed six celebrities in Chanel for the 2026 Oscars.

Jessie Buckley was the person I was most nervous about tonight. I was expecting something safe, black and simple, so she surprised me with this light pink Chanel bustier chiffon gown paired with a striking red satin leather stole combing to give a mid-century couture mood. It is elegant, unexpected and far more interesting than the safe option I feared she might choose.

Pedro Pascal was serving old Hollywood romance, even though he opted out of wearing a tuxedo jacket. The proportions are clean and confident, and the feather brooch give the look a romantic, slightly theatrical edge that feels refreshingly different from the standard red carpet formula.

Those of you who predicted that Teyana Taylor being seated in the front row at Chanel’s Fall 2026 show was an indicator that she would be wearing Chanel tonight were spot on. The actress wore a custom Chanel gown entirely embroidered with glass pearls and crystals and adorned with black and white feathers, inspired by the Chanel Spring 2026 Haute Couture collection. Styled with Tiffany & Co. jewels, the look delivered the glamour and presence we wanted on this carpet. Do I love this? Yes, absolutely. Did I want more? Also yes. But that might just be me being greedy, as I had something even more dramatic in my mind.

Nicole Kidman gave us her first custom Chanel look since being reappointed as a Chanel ambassador, wearing a powder pink bustier dress with a peplum and a skirt adorned with apricot feathers. The design leans into Chanel’s couture codes, pairing a structured bustier with delicate feather embellishment that highlights the house’s craftsmanship. I love how this look favours elegance and refinement over anything too experimental.

Gracie Abrams wore a Chanel navy look embroidered with navy and black sequins arranged in a floral motif. The cropped top and skirt silhouette keep the look youthful, while the navy chiffon scarf adds a touch of old Hollywood glamour.

I struggled to get on board with Maya Rudolph’s Chanel dress, as the layered silhouette and sheer detailing feel a little heavy for her. The overall effect reads far more mature than I would have hoped for on this carpet. While the craftsmanship is clear, the design does not quite deliver the impact. Chanel High Jewelry completed her look.
